WINE-DARK SEAS - 1984

Acrylic paint on 120 lb Saunders paper, image size 74 x 55 cm, available framed in plain painted silver frame (overall size 81 x 104 cm), limited edition giclée prints also available in sizes A1 and A2.

Homer famously referred to 'wine-dark seas'. The question "what is the colour of water?" is just as perplexing as asking "what is water's shape?".

The basic pattern was designed and drawn on tracing paper, traced onto thick watercolour paper and then painted with Liquitex artist-quality acrylics using square-tipped brushes.
